These development terms describe the intended rules for using Sighting. They must be reviewed and completed with the operator’s details and applicable law before production launch.

Using the service

Sighting is a fan-community service for discussion and responsible sharing of sightings. It is not an official celebrity channel, an emergency service or a guarantee of someone’s current whereabouts. Features and availability may change during development.

Accounts and conduct

Keep your account credentials secure and do not impersonate another person. Follow the Community Guidelines, including the restrictions on private locations, tracking, harassment, spam and attempts to evade screening. Site and account permissions determine which features you may use. Do not bypass bans or moderation controls.

Your contributions

You remain responsible for your posts, comments, chat and uploads. Submit only material you have the right to share. By submitting content, you permit Sighting to store, display and process it to operate the service, including resizing images and redacting text. This does not transfer ownership of your work. Third-party names, photographs and other materials remain subject to their owners’ rights and any applicable licences.

Moderation and removal

Content may be screened, rejected, withdrawn or removed, and participation may be restricted. Automatic approval is not endorsement or factual verification. Authors can edit certain content; a sighting’s location stays locked after submission. Public copies made by other people may remain after a post is removed here. Use Report a concern for a moderation review, copyright issue or privacy concern.

External services and information quality

Maps, sign-in services and linked social platforms are supplied by third parties under their own terms. Sighting does not verify every external destination or user submission. Do not rely on a post or heat map as proof that a person is currently at a place.

Privacy and applicable rights

Read the Privacy Policy before sharing personal information. These terms do not purport to remove rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded. Production age eligibility, jurisdiction and any additional contractual provisions remain to be finalised.
